My Story

Benvenuto to The Italian Apron

I am Kim Fontinell with over 23 years experience in restaurant management operations and the hospitality industry. I am honored to have had the opportunity to launch my own business - a branded company that represents heart and excellence, and now as a certified Woman Owned Enterprise. We began as a food truck in 2019 and in 2023 we are proud to represent our own storefront location in Maryville: La Cucina | The Italian Apron Marketplace. The pride for my Italian heritage and love of cooking is what drives my focus to deliver artisan quality meals to a busy market. I have high standards of excellence in all that I do, and my passion for delicious authentic Italian food empowers me to put my heart on a plate every single time.

In 2011, I had the honor and privilege to attend the Culinary Institute of Tuscany in Italy for training. It was a unique experience to learn quality, to live the culture, and to experience the heart of its Italian people. It was a trip that touched the heart and soul of my being.

As a little girl, my Nanny fueled my spirit and passion for cooking, and it was my trip to Italy that inspired me to hold true to authentic Italian food...

welcome to The Italian Apron.

Experience authentic homemade Italian food at our storefront location or find us for the same fresh pasta & sauce at your local Farmers Market. ~ Mangia Bene "Eat Well"

We give generously; so from one survivor to another,

I donate a portion of my sales to the

Stephen's Cancer Care Fund at the

University of Tennessee Medical Center

I also provide food donations to our community, and we align with local growers for our fresh food ingredients when possible.

The Italian Apron is good fuel for the hunger,

and a good comfort for the soul!

I look forward to exceeding your expectations...

Grazie Mille, Chef Kim
